(Lock Out Tag Out Try Out) procedure for safely locking machine actions
The obligation to have a LOTOTO procedure in place is indirectly imposed by Greek legislation on machinery (Presidential Decree 57/2010) and in conjunction with the employer's obligations under Law 3850/2010.
According to these provisions, the employer is obliged to take all necessary measures to protect its staff, including ensuring that machinery is shut down safely.
The LOTOTO study must be such that it allows for complete isolation of operations when required (e.g., general cleaning) but also partial isolation of machinery for more localized interventions (e.g., local corrective interventions, changes, etc.). Also, a key factor in determining the scope of the intervention required is the degree of reliability of the safety circuits of the machines under consideration.
LOTOTO is mainly implemented by intervening in the energy supply of the machines (electricity, water, natural gas, compressed air, etc.) so that the machines do not lose their certificate of suitability.
The end use does not require licensed and specialized personnel, but rather training of personnel in its use.
